Nokia offer the Nokia 6710 Navigator to the consumer



Every now and then a handset comes along which breaks the mould. The Nokia 6710 Navigator is one such handset. It is a comprehensive handset with numerous functions that are set out and are eminently useable. The phone is a slider phone with a central navigation button on the front face which enables the user to access the features in a simple and user friendly manner. The phone has a multitude of useful features.

The phone comes with a 5 mega pixel camera that has the added benefit of using Carl Zeiss optics. The camera operates at a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and provides auto focus and an LED flash as aids to helping the suer take effective images. Video recording and playback are offered as an alternative with quality set at VGA quality and at 15 frames per second. The increasingly popular video call feature is included within the device.

A 2.6 inch TFT screen is the focal point of the Nokia 6710 Navigator, which has the ability to display 16 million colours. Imagery is clear and crisp and vibrant. A touch sensitive zoom bar is included with the phone which allows any image displayed to be enlarged to greater size to show greater detail. The phone also comes with an accelerometer function which optimises images by ensuring they are displayed in their correct aspect.

GPRS, EDGE, HSCSD, HSDPA and WI-Fi are all included within the phone. Internet access is provided at an extremely fast speed of up to 10.2 Mbps. The phone also offers additional connection options such as blue tooth and MicroUSB, whilst one of the main elements of the phone and one that gives it its name is the GPS with A-GPS support function which uses Ovi maps version 3.0.

The phone offers an MP3/MP4 player with the added bonus of a stereo FM radio with RDS. This ensures that not only downloaded music and video files can be played but also the fact that local and national radio stations are available. The Nokia Navigator has many attributes that set it apart, one of which is it use of the ARM 11 600 MHz processor and Symbianoperating system. These are known to be effective and efficient at processing tasks. The handset is the complete package. There are very few features that could be added to this phone to make any form of difference. The unit offers a comprehensive handset.
